Join Sister Cities of the Tri-Cities
What is Sister Cities?
A national sister city movement emerged when President Dwight D. Eisenhower convened a White House conference in 1956 on citizen diplomacy. From this eventually grew the Sister Cities International organization. Sister Cities is a nonprofit citizen diplomacy network designed to create and strengthen partnerships between the United States and international communities, in order to:
- increase global cooperation at the municipal level
- promote cultural understanding
- stimulate economic development
